Why choose Abuadi?
One community only – The village of Abuadi. All our resources and energy are focused on Abuadi’s development. We firmly believe substantial progress can be achieved in shorter periods of time because of direct actions concentrated on one community only.
No middle man – Your money goes directly to the lovely Favour (Operations Manager – Abuadi CBO) who will cook wonderful dishes and look after your room, and to the passionately committed Anani (Chairman & Projects Manager – Abuadi CBO) who will guide and look after you during your stay in the village. Your money will also directly fund community projects.
Work on specific development projects – Projects which have been set by the CBO (Community Based Organisation) and require immediate attention. Most Activities will involve one of the following projects:
Farming Income Generating
Library/Computer Lab Learning Centre
Building Guest houses
You will know nearer the time which project you will be working on.
What is meant by ‘Your money’?
Your Volunteer Fee covers food (3 meals a day), accommodation, travel to Ho and airport pick up / transfer to Abuadi.
All of your money will go directly towards funding projects in Abuadi.
Do you realise that the longer your Activity Holiday is, the greater the proportion of Your money is going towards funding projects in Abuadi? i.e each additional week means more funding to the projects directly.
Are you aware that Your Activity Holiday can be paid for by a number of fundraising schemes in your own local community? We would be happy to provide you with ideas and methods used successfully by previous Activity Holiday makers.
The other costs you will need to meet are your flights, visa, immunisation shots, travel insurance (compulsory), airport departure tax, and you will also need to budget for other expenses like bottled water and other personal costs. Your airport pick-up and transfer to Abuadi is included in your Activity Holiday Fee.
We ask the Activity Holiday Maker to be physically fit, able to cope with high humid temperatures and walk long distances. You must be betweeen 18 and 65 years old and speak English fluently. You will be able to commit to a minimum of 4 weeks.
